We have loved staying here in this beautiful gite L'Hirondelle. David and Helen have done an amazing job renovating the old barn into to 2 gorgeous gites and completed to a very high standard. The location is perfect to... so quiet and peaceful!! Unfortunately it has rained heavily most days but we still enjoyed going out to explore the local area. The wood burner was so warm and cozy to return to in the evenings. Thank you David and Helen for being so warm and welcoming.

Malheureusement, il a plu abondamment presque tous les jours, mais nous avons tout de même apprécié de sortir pour explorer la région. We have had a lovely time staying in this gîtes. It is lovely and clean, very comfortable with cosy evenings spent in front of the log burner. The bed is so comfortable with soft and cosy pillows and linen. Everything need in the way of kitchen utensils. Would love to come back when it gets warmer and be able to enjoy sitting outside. Absolutely perfect! This was our third Airbnb this holiday and by far the best. The gîte has been finished to a very high standard with plenty of room for two people. We appreciated the very comfortable bed, the warm, friendly welcome and UK TV stations. There was also a safe, secure place for our bikes. We ate in one evening and the meal provided was delicious. In fact, the best meal of our holiday. Do not hesitate to book la Martinière. We would certainly hope to return one day.

Die Lage des Anwesens ist wie in einem Bilderbuch, gepflegt, ruhig, grün, einfach traumhaft. Die Wohnung steht diesem in nichts nach: wunderschön eingerichtet, blitzsauber, die Abende waren sehr gemütlich, die Nächte in dem perfekten Bett mit der perfekten Bettwäsche eine Wohltat. David und Helen sind proaktive Vermieter, die sich überaus aufmerksam um die Gäste kümmern. Optional kann man fantastisches, selbstgekochtes Abendessen buchen genauso wie frisches und leckeres Frühstück. Die Krönung unserer Entspannung waren die beiden Katzen, die den Aufenthalt abgerundet haben. Wir werden wiederkommen!

The location of the property is like in a picture book, tidy, quiet, green, simply dream-like. David and Helen are proactive landlords who take great care of the guests. Optionally, you can book fantastic, home-cooked dinner as well as fresh and delicious breakfast. The crowning glory of our relaxation was the two cats who rounded out the stay. We will be back!

Helen and David's gîte was exactly as pictured. Very cute and very clean. Great bed and linens too! Be sure to order breakfast. It was divine. It was unbelievably hot weather for the first few days so I didn't really utilize the garden but I highly recommend sitting out there. It's very picturesque. The next time I come to France to visit my friend, I will definitely stay here again!

We have so enjoyed our stay at La Martinière. Helen and David have been most welcoming and helpful ( plus provided a fantastic evening meal and breakfasts) We have enjoyed many lovely walks and also visiting interesting places nearby and it has been so nice to come back to such a well equipped and comfortable gîte at the end of the day. We can thoroughly recommend having an evening drink on the terrace - it was a perfect spot to observe the wildlife - swallows, jays, buzzards, kestrels and even deer grazing in the field. We will definitely be back.

This is our second stay in this wonderful place in just 3 months. We loved the place so much last time we needed to return. Suberb accomodation, perfect for our short 3 night stay. Having done a similar project not a million miles away from La Martinière but without the benefit of professional contractors. We probably appreciate the work and finish more than most. Certainly a property to be recommended.

The gîte is delightful, very well appointed and thought out. We have thoroughly enjoyed our six night stay. Very good walking and cycling in the immediate area. A very warm welcome from our host, David and Helen and La Martinière has an excellent website with lots of information.

We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad, we zouden 4 nachten blijven maar hebben 2 nachten bijgeboekt! Dit zegt denk ik genoeg. Locatie: Het is een hele fijne plek: rustig, maar veel leuke dingen te bezoeken/doen op <1 uur rijden. In de accommodatie liggen veel boeken/folders met tips om te doen en ook staat er veel op hun website! Accommodatie: Het is schoon, mooi, het bed is groot en ligt heerlijk. De keuken is volledig uitgerust met oa een vaatwasser. Dog-friendly. Er zijn meerdere plekken waar je buiten kunt zitten zodat je altijd wel een plekje in de zon/in de schaduw of uit de wind kan vinden. Als het buiten te koud is kun fijn zitten in de grote stoelen om een boek te lezen en een wijntje te drinken. Als het te koud is binnen kun je heerlijk bij de houtkachel zitten. Ook het ontbijt is echt een aanrader! Ik kan hier alleen maar 5 sterren geven. Ik ga dit zeker aanraden bij mijn vrienden en kennissen en zal zeker terugkomen in de toekomst.

Location: It's a very nice place: quiet, but lots of fun things to visit/do within an 1 hour drive. There are many books / leaflets in the accommodation with tips for things to do and there is also a lot on their website! Accommodation: It is clean, beautiful, the bed is large and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped including a dishwasher. Dog friendly. There are several places where you can sit outside so that you can always find a spot in the sun / in the shade or out of the wind. If it is too cold outside, you can sit in the large chairs to read a book and drink a glass of wine. If it's too cold inside you can sit by the wood burner. The breakfast is also highly recommended! I can only give 5 stars here. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and acquaintances and will definitely come back in the future.

David en Helen communiceren prettig en reageren heel snel op berichten. Maar bovenal zijn ze gewoon heel aardig en willen ze het je heel graag naar de zin maken. En geniet vooral van het ontbijt. Een beter begin van de dag kan je niet wensen.

David and Helen communicate pleasantly and respond very quickly to messages. But above all they are just very nice and they really want to make you feel comfortable. La Martinière has been our favourite AirBnB find to date! If you are looking for a peaceful stay in the French countryside, you can't go wrong staying here. It was extremely well well stocked with dishes, utensils etc. and it was very clean. The wood stove was a great touch, and a favorite feature of ours. David and Helen were fabulous hosts and were very responsive. Plus, they were absolutely delightful to chat with. Tip: Don't hesitate to order breakfast. It was excellent and a great value. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. We plan on returning for a longer stay next year!Thank you so much for a fabulous stay! We've arrived in London and let's just say that we're finding our room at the Hilton to be, let's say "lacking" in comparison to our stay at La Martinière.

Amazing property that really exceeded our expectations. We have been struggling to find quality accommodation in this part of France when visiting family. Finally we have found exactly what we have been looking for. Great hosts, very friendly and informative. The option of having breakfast everyday was an unexpected option, though on this occasion we did not take, however it was welcome to have the option. Even more unexpected was the amazing night sky due to lack of light pollution. Highly recommended.

Le logement correspond clairement à la description et aux photos. Nous étions venus pour nous reposer et juste profiter du calme, un calme absolu pendant deux jours au coin du feu. David et Helen sont aux petits soins, très réactifs, arrangeants sur les horaires d’arrivée/départ et accueillants. Le petit déjeuner était excellent, nous l’avons prix chaque matin. Le lit est extrêmement confortable, tout comme le reste de l’équipement de la maison. Nous étions en plein milieu de la nature, au calme mais à seulement 10mn en voiture de certains restaurants et autres commerces. Bref, tout était parfait. Merci David et Helen.

Un soir d'hiver au bord du feu, et tout vos soucis s'envole :) Pour ne rien gâcher, David et Helen sont des hôtes sympathiques très accueillant et aux petits soins. N’hésitez pas à réserver leurs petits déjeuners préparés, c'est digne d'un grand hôtel ! Merci beaucoup pour ce moment passé chez-vous, c'était une pause dans nos vies qui nous à fait le plus grand bien. Nous espérons avoir l'occasion de revenir. PS. Le livre sur votre aventure normande est une très bonne idée, nous avons adoré le lire et vivre un peu avec vous votre périple.

Old barn renovated with great taste, the cottage offered by David and Helen is superb, spotlessly clean and you immediately feel at home there. With its large spaces and exposed beams, we immediately fell in love. And the fireplace only convinced us. A winter evening by the fire, and all your worries fly away :) To top it off, David and Helen are friendly hosts who are very welcoming and caring. This is our second stay in L'Hirondelle and it was as lovely as the first time. Very welcoming, super comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen. The peace of the surroundings is very special - even more so in mid winter. We will definitely return.
